IVF according to the NSZU program

IVF under the program of the National Health Service — an opportunity to undergo treatment with state payment. Modern reproductive technologies and individual support for the couple.

Medical Center of Reproductive Medicine "Nadia Odesa" provides infertility treatment services using the method IVF within the framework of the National Health Insurance Program. This means, that patients can receive medical care with payment at the expense of the state program, which is especially important in the conditions of modern challenges, unstable social situation and financial crisis. We strive, to pair, who need infertility treatment, had a more accessible path to the desired pregnancy thanks to state support.

National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU) — the central body of executive power, which implements state policy in the field of state financial guarantees of medical care for the population under the medical guarantee program. NSZU is a national insurer, which concludes contracts with health care institutions and purchases public health care services from them. NSHU monitors compliance with the terms of contracts and makes direct payments to institutions for services provided.

What does the program include? IVF from NSZU?

As of 01.01.2025 for one cycle of IVF without ICSI, the NSZU allocates 84 826 UAH, and for one cycle IVF with ICSI — 93 308 UAH, in this amount enters:

  • counseling at all stages of the program;
  • conducting controlled ovarian stimulation (uz-monitoring and medication for stimulation*);
  • transvaginal puncture of follicles with anesthesia;
  • obtaining and processing of seminal fluid;
  • fertilization of eggs by sperm;
  • cultivation of embryos;
  • cryopreservation to 4 embryos, required for two embryo transfers in case of cycle segmentation or one without segmentation;
  • transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity;
  • medical provision of all stages of the program up to the diagnosis of clinical pregnancy;
  • determining the level of hCG in the blood;
  • Ultrasound of the pelvic organs.

*A certain amount of medication for controlled stimulation of the ovaries is provided within the NSZU package. The result of stimulation — the number of eggs and embryos obtained — depends on the individual response of the body, quality of biological material and other medical factors. This is one of the differences between the NSZU program and the commercial program, within which the amount of medication and stimulation tactics can be selected by the doctor individually, taking into account the patient's medical situation, response of ovaries to stimulation and plan of further treatment. In the presence of embryos, which meet the criteria for cryopreservation, they can be frozen for later use.

The package from NSZU does not include:
  • donation of oocytes and surrogate motherhood (programs are possible exclusively at the expense of the patient);
  • donation of seminal fluid (within the scope of the package from the National Health Service, it is allowed to purchase seminal fluid by the patient at his own expense for its further use in the program from the National Health Service);
  • examination, necessary before IVF.

How to use the program?

To use the program, must sign up for initial consultation of a reproductive specialist, at which the doctor will make sure that all necessary medical documents are available and there are no contraindications to IVF and will form a referral to a multidisciplinary consultation. After the approval decision of the council, it is possible to plan admission to the program. Importantly: the patient does not need to sign up for the consultation and participate in it, the council considers only the patient's medical documentation. According to the order, established by the clinic, the decision of the multidisciplinary council is adopted continuously 10 working days, however, sometimes a decision can be made earlier.

We formed step-by-step instructions, how to use the program:

  • Step 1: Sign up for an initial consultation with a reproductive specialist on issues of NSZU at the number 0800 750 390.
  • Step 2: Come for an initial consultation, take with you (if available) research results and extracts from medical records, which confirm indications for IVF. During the consultation, the doctor will find out, are there all the necessary studies, on the basis of which indications and contraindications to IVF can be assessed. If some studies are missing, the doctor will provide appropriate recommendations, and you will be able to undergo these studies in our medical center (in the shortest possible time) or by place of residence.
  • Step 3: If all documents and research results are available, they are submitted for consideration by a multidisciplinary council. The patient will be informed about the decision of the council by the attending physician no later than 10 working days from the moment of submission of documents.
  • Step 4: After the consilium makes a positive decision regarding the possibility of carrying out IVF under the medical guarantee program, you and the doctor can plan its start in the nearest menstrual cycle.
